Guidelines for Preparing and Submitting Manuscripts
Submission Method
Authors must submit the following documents via the journal’s official submission system
The complete manuscript
A cover letter signed by the corresponding author
Cover Letter Requirements
The cover letter should clearly state that:
- The manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
- All authors have contributed substantially to the work.
- Any potential conflicts of interest are disclosed.
- All authors’ full names, affiliations, academic degrees, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses are included.
Other Requirements
- Correspond author must have a valid ORCID ID.
- The corresponding author is responsible for completing the manuscript registration on the journal website prior to formal submission.
Types and Formats of Acceptable studies
All submitted manuscripts must follow the journal’s formatting rules and must not exceed the word limits defined for each study category.
1. Original papers
Original research papers reporting new empirical findings.
- Structure: Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, References.
Limitations:
Section Requirements:
- Introduction: Background, theoretical context, purpose, and research questions. Avoid extensive literature review or presenting results.
- Methods: Must include design, participants, instruments, data collection procedures, ethical approval, and data analysis.
- Results: Present findings clearly using tables/figures as needed, in order of appearance (Arabic numerals).
- Discussion: Interpretation of findings, significance, mechanism of intervention, scientific/practical implications, comparison with prior studies, and suggestions for future research.
- Conclusions: Based strictly on findings; strenghths and limitations must be acknowledged.
2. Short Communications
Brief reports of original research.
Specifications:
- Maximum 2000 words (excluding abstract, references, and tables/figures)
- Abstract 250 words
- Up to 30 references
- Up to 2 tables or figures
- Includes an abstract
3. Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
Comprehensive, authoritative reviews identifying knowledge gaps.
Specifications:
- Maximum 5000 words (excluding abstract, references, and tables/figures)
- Up to 5 tables or figures
- Must include a Search Strategy and Selection Criteria subsection
- Authors are encouraged to follow PRISMA guidelines
- PRISMA checklist should be uploaded as a supplementary file
4. Editorial studies
Opinion-based scholarly discussions on emerging or important issues.
Specifications:
- Maximum 1500 words (excluding references, and tables/figures)
- Up to 20 references
5. Case Reports
Reports of clinically significant or rare cases relevant to aging and health.
Specifications:
- Maximum 1500 words (excluding abstract, references, and tables/figures)
- Up to 10 references
- Up to 2 figures or tables
6. Qualitative Research Articles
Methodologically rigorous qualitative studies offering new insights into aging-related issues.
Specifications:
- Maximum 5000 words (excluding abstract, references, and tables/figures)
- Abstract 250 words
- Up to 50 references
- Up to 5 tables or figures
- Must follow the structure of Original Articles and include detailed methodological rigor (trustworthiness, coding, and analytic procedures).
7. Letter to the Editor
Concise, critical, or thought-provoking letters addressing previously published papers or broader issues.
Specifications:
- Maximum 1000 words (excluding abstract, references, and tables/figures)
- Up to 10 references
- Up to 1 figure or table
- Letters may be edited for clarity.
8. Review Articles (Invited or Proposed)
In-depth analytical reviews of key topics, typically submitted upon invitation.
Unsolicited proposals may be considered if the authors first submit an outline for approval.
Specifications:
- Maximum 4000 words (excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures)
- Abstract 250 words
- Up to 100 references
- No limit on tables/figures
Language and Style
Manuscripts must be prepared in clear and standard English, typed with double spacing, and submitted as a Microsoft Word file using Times New Roman font, size 12. PDF files are not accepted.
Every submitted manuscript should contain the following sections:
Cover Letter
Title Page
Abstract and Keywords (3-5 words)
Main Text (according to article category)
Acknowledgments
References
Tables (if applicable)
Figures (if applicable)
Appendices (if applicable)
Title Page
- The title page should include:
- Full title of the manuscript
- Authors’ names and academic affiliations
- Name of the institution or organization where the study was conducted
- A running title (a short version of the title, maximum 5 words, excluding prepositions and conjunctions)
- Complete postal address, telephone number, and email of the corresponding author
- All major words in the title must begin with a capital letter, except prepositions and conjunctions.
Abstract and Keywords
- The abstract and keywords page must include:
- An abstract (250 words) with four sections: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion
- A list of 3–5 keywords at the end of the abstract
- At least half of the keywords must be selected from MeSH terms (Medical Subject Headings)
References
References must be numbered sequentially in the order they appear in the text and cited using the Vancouver style.
Authors are encouraged to use reference management software.

Tables and Figures
Tables are placed at the end of the manuscript in separate pages. The position of each table should be clearly specified in the body of the text of the article.
All Figures (charts, diagrams, line drawings, web pages/screenshots, and photographic images) should be submitted in electronic form as a separate file. All figures should be of high quality, legible, and numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals.
The superscripts and/or asterisks should be shown next to the relevant items and have corresponding explanations displayed as footnotes to the table, figure, or plate.
Acknowledgments
The authors are encouraged to acknowledge the people and/or entities that supported the conduct of the study.
